Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and compassionate Board Certified Music Therapist to join our Houston, TX team at The SPEAK Center. This is a 1099 contract position. As a music therapist you will work with students across various grade levels, including those with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will use evidence-based music therapy techniques to support students’ emotional, behavioral, and cognitive development, helping them reach their full potential in the school environment. We encourage Music Therapists in and around the Houston area to apply. This is an in person, in school setting.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized music therapy interventions for students with a range of abilities, including those with special education needs (e.g., autism, developmental delays, emotional and behavioral disorders).
- Conduct individual and group music therapy sessions for children with developmental disabilities, incorporating a variety of music-based interventions to address therapeutic goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, speech therapists, and other school staff to develop comprehensive therapeutic plans that align with students' IEP goals.
- Facilitate group and one-on-one music therapy sessions aimed at improving emotional regulation, communication, social skills, and overall well-being.
- Monitor and evaluate students' progress through consistent assessment, adjusting interventions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on student progress and therapy outcomes in compliance with school and state guidelines.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA (American Music Therapy Association) approved program.
- Board Certification (MT-BC) required.
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a school or clinical setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development, particularly in special education or mental health contexts.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, patient, and flexible with a strong passion for helping students succeed through music.
